| Lotus is a jungle planet that's a veritable paradise, as long as you don't breathe oxygen. | |
| Home to a diverse array of strikingly beautiful (and dangerous) life, this planet boasts colossal megaflora, but only sparce megafauna. The megaflora here has an unusual relationship with the planet's sweeping electrical storms, most have learned to convert that electrical energy into life-sustaining calories, often harnessing lightning strikes for their own gain. |
Fauna on the planet tend to live in two places: The canopy layer or the underbrush.
In the canopy flying, leaping, and climbing creatures thrive off of the fruits of the massive flora they live in, often in social packs and groups.
Creatures that live deep in the underbrush however things trend more solitary. Due to light being significantly harder to come by, ambush predators are common, as is bioluminescence for the purpose of finding a mate or confusing other creatures. It's difficult to guess how many species live in the dark, so the world has as many cryptids as it does scientists, hunters, and true believers visiting to find them.
The truly remarkable microbiomes on the planet are the lakes and wider rivers. As a rare place where sunlight can reach the ground, this is the place where you can see practically any creature from the underbrush or the canopy layer, not unlike a watering hole back on Earth.
