| An insular order of contemplative craftsmen. Their dogma dictates that inner peace is found through toil and creation. They believe that to create is to find meaning, and that no work is ever truly finished. They personify entropy as their greatest threat, but also appreciate it for giving them a reason to revisit and refine old works. |
Upon joining, a member chooses a new name to symbolize beginning their greatest new project: themselves. All members choose from a set list of names in order to better express how even within a single category of thing there can be great variation worth celebrating and cultivating. Once you have chosen your new name you are assigned an outpost or station and given the rank of aspirant.
The order is led by the High Bondsmith, a unifying figure in their mythos who holds the various installations of the order together under their authority and wisdom. The High Bondsmith also curates the Lesser Bondsmiths, officers of the order who oversee each enclave.
Chosen by High Bondsmith and second only to them is the Wordkeeper. They chronicle the dictates of the High Bondsmith, coordinate more day to day affairs of the order, and often ascend to become the next High Bondsmith.
A Lesser Bondsmith is the highly respected master of a single enclave, ensuring it develops well and follows the dictates of the High Bondsmith. They also break ties should the democratic process of their enclave turn into a stalemate.
Exemplars enjoy more freedom than the average member of the order, able to travel and explore in pursuit of their duties instead of remaining in one place for long stretches of time. They have authority as representatives of the order to recruit and assign new members to enclaves. It is considered a great honor to be chosen as a Lesser Bondsmith, and it's often only awarded to the best member of each enclave.
A typical member of the Serene Order spends their day in either quiet contemplation or in the throes of the creative process. There is no defined medium a member must create in. Some specialize an master a single medium, others change their creative outlet weekly. Some enclaves enjoy easier access to certain materials over others, which often can create a bias within that enclave towards that medium.
Aspirants are not full members of the order yet. They have chosen their new name and been assigned an enclave, but will not be considered a full member of the order until they produce three works that the enclave votes are worthy of membership.
