5-house-gautier

The fifth Great House was House Gautier, who were the stewards of coin and trade for the empire, ensuring flourishing markets and abundance not seen before or since. Their hidden vaults of gold and other riches are still whispered in rumors even today.

House Gautier did well for themselves after the Schism and subsequent collapse of the empire by becoming the trade lords they always aspired to be, taking up great caravans and becoming nomads. A great many merchants pay dues to their house leader, Lord Samuel Gautier, in exchange for access to their unrivalled supply lines.

Lord Samuel Gautier is considered a fine specimen of aging gracefully, and is highly regarded by everyone this humble author could reach to speak on their encounters with him. He is quiet but thoughtful, offering wisdom and council to those willing to pay his fee. Once every ten years he leads a Great Trail, a caravan that goes from east to west, connecting the world and sharing his vast wealth in a celebration of his house's fortune. If you seek advice or rare things, seek Lord Samuel.
