Rushdown is on his way back to Minami City with information he recovered from the Miwako, an arkship in an Ascendancy of the Awakened Worlds ship graveyard. On the way, he was ambushed by the Resistance, and managed to capture The Spider.

"What's the latest on the situation in Ashitaba?"

"No news since our ship got blown up."

"What? Our ship got blown up and nobody told me?"

"I sent you a report."

"I must have missed it. Did we send a replacement squad?"

"I was waiting for you to order one."

"Damn it. Well, I'm ordering one now."

"Covert, same as before?"

"Yes, we'll send in a covert team to scout out the situation. But have a strike team on standby, I don't know who Minami have that are able to find and eliminate a Satonaka deep cover unit, but when I find out there'll be hell to pay."

Rushdown returns to Minami City without further incident. Minami security come to take away the Spider and his ship, and Rushdown meets up with Gray and heads to speak to Captain Finn.

Finn is dressed in his full uniform, having his hair and makeup done by a team of artists as they enter his office. "Let's make this quick," he says after he clears everyone except Wynne Barrow, Rushdown and Gray from the room, "I have a public appearance in a few minutes and I need to get ready."

"So I see," says Gray. "Let's get straight to it then, we found the Miwako in perfect working order."

"You found it? Where?"

"Pyla, Devil's Chain sector. It's a pirate clan's ship graveyard."

"We can send a team to retrieve it."

11 - Miwako returns to Minami(0/The Starforged/Campaign Rushdown/Clocks/11 - Miwako returns to Minami.md)

"Be careful if you do, apparently the clan are still quite active. We also pulled the complete databanks from the ship," says Gray, handing over the datapad with all the ship's logs on it. "We password protected the Miwako to make sure nobody else gets that data. And one more thing. Something that may be a little bit sensitive."

"Sensitive?"

"We found out the password for the Minami. You can finally unlock access to the ship's systems and end the cycle of cloning Captain Finn."

"Who else knows the password?"

"Only Rushdown here and his away team. Don't worry, it still needs your biometric readings to work, nobody else can use it."

"Well, that's not strictly true, if the board were to find out the password then any of the clones could use it to give them full power over Minami. They wouldn't need us clones any more. You were thorough. Too thorough. Guards!" Two guards enter the room, weapons raised. "Arrest these two, and lock them up. Send a squad to the Seventh Son, we need the away team from the Miwako as well."

Rushdown looks at Gray.

Does she want to make a break for it? 50/50(56)No

She shakes her head. Rushdown puts his hands up and complies with the guards. They are taken to a holding cell in the underbelly of the Minami.

Is the Spider in the holding cell? 50/50(22)Yes

There are all sorts of criminals in the holding cell, all waiting for processing, but Rushdown sees one face he recognizes - the Spider. He sees Rushdown and waves him over. "So, what are you in for?"

"They sent us to find info, but they don't trust us with the info."

"I'd be very interested to hear what you found."

"You very definitely would."

"But you're not going to tell me?"

"Nope."

After about an hour, Wynne Barrow comes in flanked by a pair of guards. "Rushdown, Gray, come with me." Rushdown and Gray follow her out of the holding cell, and outside where a flier is waiting. A guard is holding the door open, so Rushdown and Gray enter, and Wynne follows. The flier takes off and flies across the city.

"You're letting us go free?" asks Gray.

"Not exactly. The Board wishes to speak with you."

"I thought you were working for Finn?"

"I'm his liason with the Board. I think he forgets I'm there half the time."

After just a couple of minutes, they land on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Minami City. They head down the stairs to the top floor, where they enter a conference room. Five people are seated on one side of a table, and two chairs are set up in the center of the room. Gray and Rushdown sit.

"Do you want the long version or the short version?" says a large man wearing a suit. He has a cigar in his hand.

"Let's start with the short version and we'll ask questions if necessary," says Gray.

"You have the password, we want it."

"Is there some kind of medium version?" asks Rushdown.

"Ok, the medium version," says the man. "The clones don't have any idea how to run this city, they just play videogames and get high all day. They don't care about the people, and they're so scared of losing their power that they run this place like a prison. You've seen that first hand."

"And what do we get out of the deal?" asks Gray.

"Your freedom, obviously, and we'd owe you a favor."

"And you'd send work our way every once in a while?"

Make a Connection(Heart)5 vs 2|6 Connection The Board

"We were kind of hoping you'd give us an exclusive contract, but we're not ready to talk about that until we're in control."

"Yeah, that's something I'd have to talk to HQ about," says Gray quickly.

"Exactly," says the man in the suit, "Not the time."

"Ok then," says Rushdown, "The code is the original Captain Finn's mother's maiden name followed by his date of birth."

"That's it? You can't be serious," says the man in the suit. "All these years and we probably could have just guessed it."

"The apples didn't fall too far from the tree, I guess."

"We'll need to verify that it works, of course," says the man. "You can head back to your ship for now."

The flier takes them to the spaceport. There's a scene outside the Seventh Son, guards are trying to arrest the members of the away team but the crew refuse to let them on board. Wynne calls off the guards and orders them to return to duty. Gray and Rushdown board the ship and wait for news.

The next day the news comes through - the password for the Minami has been found and the Captains are no longer needed to run the city. Captain Finn is expected to announce his retirement at the end of the day and appoint the Board as leaders in his stead.

Rushdown lets the crew take a few days off in Minami City, and oversees the work on the ship repairs.

Rushdown gets word that his crew are being targeted - someone is ambushing them alone or in small groups and giving them a beating. He heads to the sickbay to question the victims. They were all drinking in the waterfront entertainment district at night when they got jumped by a man wearing power armor. He beat them until they couldn't stand and then just left them lying in the street - didn't take anything. Rushdown decides to get to the bottom of the attacks.

Rushdown gets a call from Gray on his communicator calling him into the office. He sends a message to all crew telling them to avoid the waterfront entertainment district, and goes to see Gray.

He gets to the office. "Something the matter?"

"The Board want to speak with us. I think it's about that exclusivity contract."

"We're not going to take it, are we?"

"It depends, if it's just for Minami City then it should be okay. If it's for the whole sector, we'll have to involve HQ."

"I'll let you do the talking," says Rushdown.

They go to meet the board - this time aboard the Minami itself. They are in a board room, and this time the Suns have seats at the table instead of sitting across from the Board.

"We never introduced ourselves last time," begins the big man with the suit. "I'm Paulie the Hook, on account of I used to be a boxer." The rest of the board go around and introduce themselves, but let Paulie does the rest of the talking. "So, last time we mentioned an exclusivity contract."

"Yes, what sort of exclusivity were you thinking of?" asks Gray.

"Well, we know you operate throughout the sector and have multiple ships, and I don't think we have enough work to justify a sector-wide contract. So, we believe that a Minami City exclusivity contract would be the most beneficial. All Red Suns contracts issued in or around Minami City are to be issued by the board."

"That sounds doable, but what about third parties that want to use our services?"

"Well, we were thinking you could move your office from where it is now in town to the Minami itself. Anyone who wants to contract out the Red Suns would need to get approval from one of our officers, and pay a licensing fee directly to the Board on top of your usual fees."

"Make the officer Wynne Barrow."

"That can be arranged."

"What about if we're contacted from off-world about a job? Someone sends a courier from Tranquilo, say," says Rushdown.

"Let's say it doesn't fall under our agreement for now, pending a trial period of three months."

"And what if an off-world job involves a target in Minami City?"

"Go through Wynne Barrow. And don't take jobs against Minami Clan members."

"Ok, I'll agree to the three month trial period," says Gray. "Let me know when your lawyers have drawn up the contract and I'll have my people look it over." Gray and Paulie shake hands, and the meeting ends.

Rushdown heads back to the waterfront entertainment district and resumes the search for the mysterious attacker.
