I need to find supplies and, should fortune will it, a settlement on this isle.

I encountered a large and aggressive flightless bird, it made threat displays to try and warn me off. To my surprise, my attempt to scare it actually worked and I found a small measure of coin and jewels decorating its nest, no doubt scavenged from the nearby beach where many things (including myself) wash up.

I found a step pyramid in the jungle, it appeared to be abandoned but a warning about giant man-eating spiders on a stele erect nearby convinced me it was not a place to disturb in my current state of preparedness.

I am very fortunate that I heeded the warning and didn't disturb the pyramid which I now suspect was a nest. A single spider in the surrounding jungle sprung a trap on me with a tripwire of spider silk. The ensuing battle almost cost me my life multiple times but I managed to prevail and slay the beast. If I never see another spider again it will be too soon.

I reached a massive river gorge with a tenuous rope bridge strung across it. While it held firm, a storm rolled in as I began to cross and the fierce winds did their best to throw me to my death. I managed to hold on and took shelter in a cave to wait out the storm when I managed to finish my crossing.

Following the direction the bridge was pointing, I successfully found a dirt path and have followed it over a river to a grassland. I can see mountains in the distance and believe my time in the jungle has finally come to an end.
