Truth of the Clans

Dangers abound, but there is safety in numbers. Many ships and settlements are united under the banner of one of the Founder Clans.

We have a tentative foothold in this galaxy. Each of the five Founder Clans honor the name and legacy of a leader who guided their people in the chaotic time after the Exodus. Vast reaches of the settled domains are claimed by the clans, and territorial skirmishes are common.

Just before the Exodus, clans were structured as follows:
Great Clan > Great Houses > Minor Houses

In the time since humanity began the Exodus that structure may have changed drastically, so feel free to create corporate, authoritarian, criminal, religious, or any other ideas you might have for structure.

THE LOST CLAN

The Lost Clan is the fifth Founding Clan. Shortly after the Exodus began calamity struck. It's not entirely clear what brought down the Lost Clan, some sources say civil war, others plague, and more still insist it was an outside force. What's clear in the modern day is that the Lost Clan's Ark Ship never arrived. Smaller support vessels did manage to survive and reach the forge, but their information is no better than ours.

Many varied groups claim to be the inheritors of the Lost Clan's mantle as a great clan, often warring amongst themselves to better support their claims.

Narratively, the Lost Clan and what happened to it isn't meant to be too well defined. It exists so that you can create your own great clan claimants if the existing great clans don't suit your purposes.
