Long ago the lands of Ossik were a considerable thorn in the side of the old Rhodesian empire, often considered too rebellious and too prone to uprisings. In the modern age however, Ossik is largely stable and happy as an independent kingdom. They have prospered as a center of trade and are impressively resilient to the influence of the larger nations of the world. While Harbia remained independent long enough to unify thanks to its remote nature, modern day Ossik exists largely thanks to its incredible diplomatic prowess. Even the religions of its people are well balanced, and it’s the only nation other than Harbia to have a sizable number of people who follow the religion of Nautalism.

Ossik is also home to some odd happenings which many say is because the very land itself is steeped in magic, even if such a thing is impossible to prove. That said, it can’t be denied that ancient ruins and deep old forests abound, making the lands more dangerous than otherwise expected for the traveler thanks to bandits, beasts, or something else entirely having an ample supply of homes. For these same reasons, many knights quest throughout land to make their name and spread the influence of their lords.

Culturally, Ossik maintains a strong unifying belief in honor and tradition, with their knightly orders being well regarded even outside their own lands. These knightly orders are also key to keeping the populace happy, as even the lowest peasant can be awarded knighthood if they impress a lord. A particularly good knight can even earn a title and lands of his own if sufficiently accomplished or well connected. Above those knightly orders in the ranks of true nobility you’ll find barons, counts, dukes, and more all playing a grand political game for their own ends, even Queen Kovan.

The Queen of Ossik is a descendant of House Marvello, and is by all accounts a beautiful woman by the name of Jessamine Kovan. When she came to power her legitimacy was in question and her claim fragile but through skillfully planned marriages and treaties she both expanded her kingdom considerably and, if rumors are to be believed, somehow managed to make both empires fear her ire. If you fancy yourself a statesman she’s either the woman to beat or to beg to teach you.
